RPL Forward

The maiden edition of Ruggedman’s much talked about fifa playstation competition “Rugged Premier League” took place over the weekend and it was all we thought it would be.

The two day event which happened at Troy Lounge Lagos was exciting and nerve wracking for the people watching and the contestants.

As much as some will say it is just a computer game, it is more than just that to the competitors. It is a challenge. It is a time to know how good you really are when you play against people from different parts of Nigeria. There was even a celebrity battle between Ruggedman, Efe Money, music video director Avalon Okpe and rapper Magnito. Other celebrities who graced the event are comedians Koffi Tha Guru, Osaz, Efe Warri Boy, Bash and comedian/actor Monkals of Do Good fame.

Marvis, Lamboginny, Viktoh YBNL, Kage Ebubedike, producer/singer STO and Mr Ideal Nigeria 2017 Steve Onyeneke. Mr Kanmi CEO of Nigerian Game Evolution handled the gaming and it was awesome.

We had Emeka Itegbe, the youngest contestant who is 12 years old. Unfortunately he got knocked out in the group stages and the RPL team did not let him leave empty handed as he was given a case of Lacasera.

There was the case of another young 14 year old who was knocked out in the quarter finals by Dare Bamigbola. Dare went on to meet Adefolarin Teluwo who happened to be the 14 year olds older brother. It would have been a revenge match if Ade had succeded in defeading Dare. But it wasnt to be. As Dare put in during his interview…”it was a family beating” as he also defeated the older brother to qualify for the finals.

A gaming competition first timer Jim Edinbor made it all the way to the finals and faced the dreded Dare Bamigbola. Dare made an easy job of Jim to emerge the winner of the maiden edition of Ruggedmans Rugged premier League.

1st : Dare Bamigbola.
2nd: Jim Edinbor.
3rd: Adefolarin Teluwo.

Thanks to Nairabet, Lacasera, SLOT, TSW, BL Restaurant, all the winners got their prizes on the spot before leaving the venue.
